When I disconnected my battery the OBC lost its stored month and day values but not the year.

I work in a body shop and it’s weird some cars lose everything right away and other you can restore all your radio presets.
Disconnected a battery the other day for a second and it saved the stations. Battery died over the weekend and everything was gone.

Try getting it up to 88mph and see if you gonna go back in time!

Somethings are stored in FLASH memory while others are stored in RAM.

I was thrilled to find out that the Fiat saved all of the radio settings. The dash settings were all gone though. It’s currently Monday, June 20.

So why would day and month be RAM and not year?

Ok yeah that’s weird, but... why does a car need to display the year at all?
I mean sure, it’s cool for a car to have a clock, that’s common (and convenient!). And I’ll admit, sometimes I even lose track of what day it is... but the year ? What’s the point?

It might use the year to give you reminders about oil changes. Little reminder on the dash if you cross x miles or 1 year without resetting the service interval.
